Marc will explain what is required to run Nerves on unsupported hardware and
outline the challenges involved in porting it to less conventional devices such
as smartphones or tablets. If a device can run Linux, can it also run Nerves?
This session will combine foundational Linux concepts with an explanation of how
Elixir replaces certain components typically found in a standard Linux system.
Speaker
Marc is an experienced software developer and product manager. In 2013, he
co-founded Spin42 with Loïc Vigneron and Thibault Poncelet after several years
of freelancing. Together they built Ibanity in 2016, a financial institution
aggregation platform written in Elixir, which was sold the following year.
After more than seven years working in the financial industry with Elixir, he
and his partners also built “The Nerves Car”: a functional vehicle platform
powered by Nerves, based on a 2007 Volkswagen Polo converted into a full-size
remotely drivable electric vehicle using Elixir and Nerves. Since then, he has
developed an unusual hobby of porting Nerves to various Android devices he
happens to have lying around.
